Cheyne Morrisby & Danielle Oosthuizen established Hiro, meaning abundance, prosperity, generosity in Japanese, a space that has a very special place in their hearts. It’s a space where you cultivate memories, foster connections and ignite a sense of shared joy as you join them on a culinary journey that is unique to both Cheyne and Danielle.
Hiro consistently provide their guests with impeccable service and with the highest standards of quality dishes as Hiro combines innovative styles of cooking driven and inspired by Cheyne Morrisby’s passion for Asian cuisine, his travels and extensive experience in the culinary world as he redefines authentic Japanese food into a modern exploration of inventive flavour and culinary art.
The menu and space bring people together to enjoy sharable dishes, in a welcoming, magical ambiance where quality is at the heart of everything. For Cheyne, Hiro’s modern Japanese dining experience is all about good, simple flavours. He believes in serving our guests in a sustainable and ethical way with the utmost attention to detail where every dish is created with love and passion as we provide you with a menu divided into sections of Sea, Land, Earth, Sweet satisfying every guest or any request.
At Hiro you create your own dining experience. Our main dining room is moody and lights up magically at night, creating the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a special night with family and friends showcasing our open kitchen headed up by Chef Emanual.
We have created a semiprivate dining room, The Chefs Table, uniquely designed by Danielle as the walls are adorned by her artwork and collages. Perfect for a party of 6, no matter the occasion, it is all a celebration as we take care of every detail to make it an unforgettable experience.
Our patio is where you dine amongst the infamous Constantia Uitsig rose garden with Constantia Berg in the background, inviting you for a long, lazy lunch or a dinner by candlelight.
The ignite of Hiro is brought to life by Cheyne and Danielle’s passion for the industry, respecting each other’s area of expertise; Cheyne’s extensive knowledge, passion and experience in Asian cuisine is the force behind every uniquely created dish. Danielle’s experience in hospitality and her eye for design has expressed her vision throughout Hiro, even the Hiro restroom is a testament to her vision, it will make you linger a little longer.
Together they have created their dream, a dream they both strongly believe in, solidified in the belief they have in each other.
